Nugget #046September 29, 2026

20 of your 26 most-reviewed products have no pinned review. Pin the longest 5-star one.

Do this

Open the Loox admin this week and feature one review on each of the 20 products that have 5 or more reviews and currently have none featured - the exact review ID to pin for each of the 20 is in the table below, so this is copy-paste work, not a search. Start with peAOVLAoq on Vibrant Birds Garden T-Shirt: "The tee shirt fabric is lightweight, but not flimsy... Sizing is true. Very minimal shrinkage when washed." That is a customer, not you, answering the two objections that dominate your 55 reviews rated 3-or-below - fabric thinness (23 of the 55) and sizing (17 of the 55). Then unfeature the 8 reviews you have currently pinned that state no product fact at all, the shortest being "Love this Tshirt!" (18 characters).

The standing rule, applied at your existing Monday ads check: pin the longest five-star review that names a checkable fact - weight, wash, shrinkage, fit, delivery time, or who it was for. Never "the longest review" without the five-star filter: on 4 of these 20 products the longest review is a 2-to-4-star complaint, and on your number-two product, Quietly Plotting Tomato Harvest T-Shirt, the longest review of all 51 is a 2-star one.

Why this is true · evidence · the thread

Ogilvy's two rules - trust peers over advertisers, and facts over adjectives - land together on the one piece of product-page copy IGL fully controls and has filled with adjectives, while the mastermind's product-page framework specifies the review block's position and never says which review goes in it.

Two of Ogilvy's rules converge on the same square inch of an e-commerce page. Rule 9: "Include testimonials. Consumers trust peers more than advertisers. Real customer stories and reviews are the most credible form of persuasion." Rule 4: "Facts beat adjectives. Specific, concrete claims are more persuasive than vague superlatives. 'Fired at 2,100 degrees' beats 'premium quality.'" In the Confessions episode he is blunter still: "In my Rolls Royce advertisements, I gave nothing but facts. No adjectives... When I was a door-to-door salesman, I discovered that the more information I gave about my product, the more I sold."

IGL holds 1,025 product reviews and has pinned 25 of them. Nine of those 25 run under 100 characters; the four shortest carry no product information whatsoever - "Love this Tshirt!" (18 chars), "Perfect travel shirt!" (22), "Absolutely love my Tshirts! So comfy." (37), "This is the best company I have ever dealt with!" (48). The median pinned review is 193 characters. Meanwhile 40 product reviews run 300 characters or longer - the fact-rich ones - and only 3 of those 40 are pinned. Across products the gap is wider: of the 26 products with 5 or more reviews, 20 have no pinned review at all, including Quietly Plotting Tomato Harvest T-Shirt, which has 51 reviews, 49 of them five-star, and nothing featured.

The non-obvious part is what those unpinned long reviews are actually doing. They are not praise; they are rebuttals. Hand-classifying all 55 reviews rated 3-or-below, the largest complaint cluster is fabric and print quality (23 of 55 - "thin & flimsy" recurs almost verbatim across six separate reviews), then fit and sizing (17), then delivery (9). Review peAOVLAoq answers the first two of those in the customer's own words, for free, and is sitting unused. Ogilvy's testimonial rule is not about warmth; it is about letting a stranger make your factual claim for you.

No single knowledge base reaches this. founders-kb has the doctrine. wescale-kb has the page slot - Chris Heckman's mobile product-page order puts Reviews at position 9 "if 50+ exist", and IGL's top product has 329, so the block belongs on the page; the framework never addresses which review fills it. igl-brand-kb has the 1,025 records and the isFeatured flag, captured yesterday and mined so far only for persona voice banks, never for the pinned slot.

Evidence trail
founders-kb/founders/david-ogilvy - primary, the seed. Rules 3 (long copy outsells short), 4 (facts beat adjectives, lines 23-24) and 9 (include testimonials, line 29), verbatim. No date or status header on the file; it is a distilled founder profile, not a dated business document.
founders-kb/episodes/306-david-ogilvy-confessions-of-an-advertising-man - primary, the enriched episode note: "He championed facts over adjectives, testimonials over claims, and specific promises over vague brand language." The verbatim Rolls-Royce and door-to-door lines quoted above sit at line 56 of the raw transcript for the same episode.
wescale-kb/calls/call-17 - primary. Chris Heckman's mobile product-page order places Reviews at position 9 "if 50+ exist" (line 182), inside the death-by-a-thousand-cuts frame (five small friction points = 0.5-1.5% conversion loss, line 23). Establishes the slot; is silent on its contents.
igl-brand-kb/community/reviews/2026-09-28/igl-merchant-reviews.json - primary. CURRENT, 1 day old: captured 2026-09-28T23:50:37Z from the read-only Loox Merchant API. 1,025 product reviews + 290 store reviews = 1,315 records. Every count in this nugget was recomputed from this file by the operator.
igl-brand-kb/community/customer-reviews-current - primary. Header declares CURRENT SoR, September 28, 2026, and its own counts table independently reports 1,025 product reviews, 40 at 300+ characters, and 24+12+5 product plus 8+4+2 store reviews at 3-or-below = the same 55.
Thread: founders-kb/founders/david-ogilvy.md (rules 3, 4, 9) -> episode 306 Confessions ("no adjectives... the more information I gave, the more I sold") -> igl-merchant-reviews.json, the isFeatured flag -> length distribution of the 25 pinned vs the 40 long ones -> the 55 sub-4-star complaint clusters those long reviews rebut -> wescale-kb/calls/call-17 (reviews sit at position 9 on the mobile page, contents unspecified)
